August 19, 2003 Farmers in Krishna river delta water demonstrated against the Government for not providing them water at Vijayawada. The farmers were supported by Congress party. July 14, 2003 A team involved in the manufacture of fake paints of leading Indian brands including Asian Paints and Nerolac was arrested in Vijayawada. Over Rs. 2 Lakh worth paints items were recovered from them. They used to sell the paints under the Saradhi Paints and Chemicals. May 2, 2003 Vijayawada Police Commissioner and 4 others given Non-bailable arrest warrant A non-bailable arrest warrant was given on Police Commissioner of Vijayawada Mr. NV Surendra Babu and 4 others in regard to a custodial death case by IIIrd Metropolitan Magistrate under Sections 302(Punishment for Murder), 201, 149, 120(b) read with 34 IPC and other sections. |
