The 3-member committee that was in Andhra University to look into the various facilities and qualities provided to the students reached for the 3rd day. The committee interacted with a section from teaching, student and various affiliated colleges today.

PCC Leaders warns of action against Government if they don't come to the rescue of farmers
M Satyanarayana Rao and Y Rajasekhar Reddy warned the Government that they are not going to sit idle if the Government tries to take away the resources from the farmers. They said that they are ready even to go to jail for the sake of farmers. They alleged that the Government has failed in providing the minimum resources to farmers. The duo spoke at a public meeting at K Kotapadu in Visakhapatnam.

A couple in Visakhapatnam died committing suicide after they were tested to be positive to AIDS. It is believed that mental tensions were the reason for the suicide.

Farmers arrested for agitating for Raiwada Reservoir
Farmers staged an agitation demanding release of water for their fields from the Raiwada Reservoir. 2 Farmers and 2 policemen were severely injured in the clashes. The Police arrested 22 people including ZP Chairman Kanthamma and Former MP, PCC Correspondent Mr. Konathala Ramakrishna.

Andhra University to reopen again
The Andhra University and its PG Centres will reopen on 3rd December, 2002. According to the principals of Andhra University, the University, its affiliated colleges and Hostels will reopen tomorrow.

Bundh was observed at the Andhra University campus demanding for a recall of Vice Chancellor of the University. Colleges of Arts, Commerce, Law and Engineering were completely empty as students did not turn up for the classes.

A troup of Swimmers from Visakhapatnam went to Orissa to recover the 14 dead bodies of fishermen.

Trawlers begins sinking in sea
A Trawler on the seas - MFV Chur - has began sinking in the sea. The crew of 14 members in it were found missing. The Coast Guard at Visakhapatnam was alerted and began rescue operations. Coast Guard Helicopters and Boats were deployed. The trawler weights 110 tonnes and is owned by Four Seasons Shipping.

Hari Babu - a Theaf who looted over 17 houses in Visakhapatnam were caught by the District Police. Items worth Rs. 4 Lakhs worth items were recovered from him.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau caught a DCTO while taking bribe from a steel trader in Visakhapatnam. Raids on his premises in Gajuwaka and Srikakulam unveiled Lakhs of rupees and share certificates.

A Rail Rokho was organized at the Yellamanchali Railway Station demanding for the cancel the DMU train and reschedule the Passenger train to Visakhapatnam. This blocked that rail traffic for over an hour.

They were warmly welcomed by party functionaries. Visakhapatnam Airport was fully crowded at the time the leaders stepped out of the Hyderabad-Vizag plane.

The Visakhapatnam District Police has organized a blood donation camp at the Kailasagiri Armed Reserve Police Grounds. Over 70 police personnel donated their blood which was sent to the King George Hospital.

IG of Police Mrs. Tejdeep Kaur Menon, IPS gave a talk on Poetry for a Cause at the Andhra University Research Forum held at TLN Sabha Hall, AU. She read out her works classical works including "Beautiful.. My Darling", "Caught in a Stampede" and other poems on Blood Donation, Anger, Anguish and Agitation etc. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. YC Simhadri, Rector Prof. B Mallikarjuna Rao, Convener Prof. P Rajendra Prasad, Principal of College of Arts and Commerce Prof. Panduranga Rao, faculty from various colleges and students were present.

PCC President says members suspended from the party cannot attend party programs
PCC President Mr. M Satyanarayana Rao clarified that he has no special reason for coming immediately to Visakhapatnam after a program held in Nandyal. He said that he has done so only to attend the function of MP Mr. T Subbarami Reddy's birthday.

Funeral of Chitti babu held
The funeral of the dead constable from Anakapalle Mr. Chitti Babu was held today at his home town on Annavaram near Chintapalli. The body of the constable was found near Vasamamidi in G Madugula area after the People's War Group killed and has put the body there ten days before. The Police search party has located the body after intensive search. The body was postmortemed and later given to the family members. Visakha SP Atul Singh says that he will take revenge on Naxals.

Andhra Pradesh Non-Government Officials (AP NGO) in Visakhapatnam said that they will launch as hunger strike in Hyderabad if the Government does not come forward to look into the problems of Teachers and Employees. They said that dharnas will begin from next month if the Government still does not look into the issue.

New Rector for AU
Prof. B Mallikarjuna Rao took over as the new Rector of the Andhra University. He took over from the outgoing Rector Prof. KLN Swamy who took retirement recently. Prof. Mallikarjuna Rao was from the Department of Physics and began his career as a Lecturer in 1964.

Former Registrar of Andhra University, J.M. Naidu has been nominated Member Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science and Technology. He will serve the position for a term of two-years.
