The 4-day Chess Competitions that began in Guntur concluded today. Over 60 players took part in the competitions in which Mr. Swekar was the winner in the Under-15 category. He scored 5.5 of 6 points. The winners will take part in the State Level Chess Competitions that are going to be held in Eluru.

Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu participated in the "Chaduvula Panduga" program in Guntur and Prakasam districts. He said they that the Government will help the students of poor families join the Residential school. He said it would become an unregretteble error if the poor children are not admitted in schools.

Naxals continue to raise their terror - kills 4 cops
4 police men died when the PWG blasted a Climb Over mine in the Karampudi forest area in Guntur. Constable Balaji Naik died on the spot and 3 others died when they were taken to Hyderabad by a Helicopter. 4 others were seriously injured. The Police were on their way to a nearby village when they got information that PWG has conducted a Gram Sabha. Home minister Mr. Devendar Goud said that it is very unfortunate after drop of talks though they are ready for talks with PWG.

Funeral of Sri Chebrolu Hanumaiah held
Senior Congress Leader and Former Minister Sri Chebrolu Hanumaiah was laid to rest today. The funeral was held in Guntur which was attended by senior leader of the party. Minister Sri Kadiyam Srihari, Senior Leader Sri R Sambasivarao and other supporters paid homage to their beloved leader.

Four under trail prisoners were killed in an encounter when they tried to escape from custody when they were being taken to court in Perecharla mandal of Guntur. The four were Lodati Seennu, Kampa Seenu, Tadigiti Suresh, Macherla Lakshmana Rao were accused in 32 cases.

8 persons including a newly married couple died when a small boat in which they were traveling across River Krishna in Rentachintala village of Guntur District overturned. The incident occurred at about 10:30 AM in the morning hours.
