Aug 25, 2002 BJP President, Mr. M Venkiah Naidu took part as Chief Guest in the closing day of the BJP Meet at Bhimavaram. Speaking on the occasion, he mentioned the election ordinance and said that the Election Commission should start the elections in Gujarat since the current position is peaceful in the state. Aug 5, 2002 The 220 KV Sub-Station at Bommuru near Rajahmundry was caught on fire in the early hours of the day. Two 132 KV Transformers were burnt. Jul 30, 2002 Farmers in East Godavari tried to be violent when they tried to enter into the Zilla Parishad office when meeting was going on. The farmers demanded for immediate water at least to 400 cubic cm levels for their crop from the Eluru canal. The police tried to restrict the farmers from entering but their efforts failed. The accident happened when one women tried to commit suicide by pouring kerosene over her and her fire caught houses nearby. Apr 24, 2002 PCC President Sri M Satyanaryana Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh Congress will be holding a public ballot on the Government's hike on power. They blocked Kakinada Electricity Department DE Office today.
