July 17, 2012 - California

One of the top executive at Google Inc. Marissa Mayer was hired as the new President and the Chief Executive Officer of Google's rival company Yahoo! Marissa Mayer is considered one of the top promising women and a leading corporate in the Silicon Valley.

Yahoo is struggling for years and the appointment of Marissa Mayer is considered as a coup for Yahoo. The 37-year old technocrat will help Yahoo improve the look and feel of some of the top Yahoo products and services. Ms. Mayer has stepped down on her own so as to 'claim a bigger stage'. Ms. Mayer also sits on the 16-member board of Wal-Mart when she joined in it in April.

Earlier it was widely anticipated that Yahoo's own internal candidate Ross Levinsohn would be elevated to the top position.

A native of Wisconsin, a wizard in mathematics, impressive memory and an enthusiasm for design, Ms. Mayer hold a Masters in Computer Science from Standford University, the same school from where the founders of both Yahoo and Google went. She joined Google in 1999 as its 20th employee. Yahoo is reported to have reached Ms. Mayer on June 18 but she was not interested in leaving Google at that time. But as Yahoo's board progressed, she found the position challenging.
