Facebook has over 83 million fake accounts

Facebook has more than 83 million fake users. According to the Form 10-Q submitted to the US Securities and Exchange commission, Facebook said that 8.7% of its 955 million active users might not be real.

The fake users are classified into three groups by Facebook. 4.8% of the accounts are duplicate profiles, 2.4% of the accounts are user-misclassified accounts and 1.5% are accounted as undesirable. The undesirable group of accounts are the profiles that are deemed to be in breach of the terms and services of the Facebook social networking site.

Facebook has revealed that it has 955 million monthly active users and 543 million monthly active mobile users in its first quarterly earnings report as a public company. Facebook has posted a loss of $157 million in the April-June period.
