Advanced version of Aakash-2 soon


August 12, 2012 - Hyderabad

The Union Minister for HRD Kapil Sibal said that the advanced version of low cost computer tablet Aakash-2 with three hour battery life and with other upgrades will be launched soon. He said that it will be given to students at a subsidized price.

Delivering the first convocation address of Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences at Hyderabad campus he said that that a growing number of universities abroad were taking the frugal innovation message seriously and initiating programmes for it. Sibal asked the students and institutions to take such frugal innovation ides seriously.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor BITS, Pilani urged the passing out students to make a difference to the universe we live in. BN Jain, Vice-Chancellor presented a report on BITS. He said a Rs.400 crore project to renovate and expand the Pilani campus and similar projects to expand capacity to cater to increased number of students in Goa and Hyderabad campus are on the anvil.
