Now, a device that serves you porridge as you wake up

You can now relish a steaming bowl of porridge in your breakfast without moving out of the bed - all thanks to the new gizmo porridgemaid.

London, Feb 16 : You can now relish a steaming bowl of porridge in your breakfast without moving out of the bed - all thanks to the new gizmo 'porridgemaid'.

The revolutionary device, which is still undergoing tests, works on a bedside alarm system.

The clock comes with a thermos that keeps milk cold overnight then heats it when the built-in alarm goes off.

Within three minutes, the milk is hot enough to bubble up into a waiting bowl of porridge oats.

The porridge firm Quaker Oats came up with the idea after a survey showed one in 10 people was not mentally awake until 2pm.

"We have had a lot of positive reaction. It is very easy to operate," the company's rep said.

"You put your oats in the bowl and the thermos flask keeps the milk cool throughout the night and starts to boil it at the time you set the night before.

"It takes about three minutes to heat the milk.

"The flask holds about a pint of milk - so you have enough milk for two bowls of porridge," the rep added.
