A New Scientist blog post describing the history of climate change research has been named the magazines best community site with a whopping 449 comments from the readers, reports its official website.

London, December 29 : A New Scientist blog post describing the history of climate change research has been named the magazine's best community site with a whopping 449 comments from the readers, reports its official website.

Another blog that demanded readers' responses regarding top 10 science pop songs, and suggested that the Flaming Lips' 'Race for the Prize' seemed to be a popular choice, made it to the second position with 195 comments.

Third on the list was a discussion ensuing the Virginia Tech shootings that claimed more than 30 lives. It touched on everything from philosophy of government to the psychology of mass murder.

It was followed by a blog by researcher Lucy Middleton, titled Vegansexual, which claimed the fourth position on the back of strong response from the readers. Vegansexuals are people who not only abstain from eating or using animal products, but also from developing sexual intimacy with people who do eat meat.

Wrapping up the top five was an article presenting former US Vice-president Al Gore's requests to the people that they attend the Live Earth concerts to sign a pledge to fight climate change. It attracted a very wide range of responses from the readers.

Apart from this, the journal also got great responses from its readers on articles posted on its main websites-Environment site, Space site, Technology site, and Main site.
