Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath today stressed on the vitality of technological upgradation for the countrys project exporters for competing in the international markets.

New Delhi, Dec 11 : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath today stressed on the vitality of technological upgradation for the country's project exporters for competing in the international markets.

Distributing the annual Export Awards of the Project Exports Promotion Council of the country (PEPC) here, Nath underlined the efforts of the developed countries that are increasingly upgrading their technology, project management skills and equipment.

Nath also expressed satisfaction over the fact that project exports are increasing and the value of project exports from India has touched Rs.11381 crore during 2006-07 while its growth over the previous year was over 87 per cent in terms of dollar.

"More efforts are needed to explore emerging opportunities in the African, Caribbean and CIS regions," he said.

PEPC was set-up by the Commerce and Industry Ministry as an apex co-ordinating agency. The council not only undertakes the necessary export promotion initiatives, but also provides necessary technical information, guidance and support to construction and engineering contractors or builders and consultants to set up overseas projects.
