HYDERABAD: CONGRESS TO LAUNCH SMS CAMPAIGN FOR SPECIAL STATUS: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee had decided to mount pressure on the State and the Central Government to grant special status to the State. The party has decided to launch a one crore SMS campaign exhorting the people, students and youth in particular to send SMS to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Unions Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu and the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

KURNOOL: CID TAKES CUSTODY OF KESHAVA REDDY: The chief of the Keshava Reddy Educational institutions Keshava Reddy was taken into custody by the CID officials. It may be recalled that he was arrested in deposits case and was arrested and sent to remand on September 10. Following the case was transferred to CID.

SRIKAKULAM: THREE STUDENTS FROM NEPAL DROWNED: Three engineering students from Nepal, studying at AITAM-Tekkali drowned at the Bhavanapadu beach in the district on Saturday evening. The three students were identified as Rajkumar Giri, Devak Gupta and Sumit Patel according to police. Sources said that 70 students from various countries are studying at AITAM-Tekkali. College authorities sought the help of marine police in tracing the other students while one body of Rajkumari Giri was traced at the beach.

VIJAYAWADA: CRDAI WITHDRAWS THREAT TO STOP WORK: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu assured a delegation of the CREDAI to positively consider their demands who threatened to stop building work from September 21. They wanted bulk allocation of sand reaches and easing the restriction on sale of sand among the districts.

ATTRACT SMALL IT FIRMS FIRST, says CM: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday instructed the officials of IT, Electronics and Communications department to prepare an IT events calendar and take up promotional activities accordingly to realise its potential.

VISAKHAPATNAM: KOREA CARAVAN ON SEPTEMBER 22: Korea Caravan being organized here by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea on September 22 in which investment opportunities in developing new capital at Amaravati, smart city Visakhapatnam and several others. Captains of leading corporates of Korea, including Samsung and Hyundai numbering 50 are expected to take part in the event at Hotel Novotel Varun Beach.

WHIP AGAINST UNAUTHORIZED LAYOUTS: The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority officials on Saturday launched a drive against unauthorised layouts in VUDA purview and demolished structures raised there for unauthorized development. Four teams of officials and field staff took up the task.

AUCTION OF SEIZED PROPERTIES ON SEPTEMBER 23: Remaining movable properties involved in SIMS cases would be auctioned on September 23 as per the orders of the metropolitan Session Judge on July 22. Those wishing to participate in the open auction have to be present at the Regional Office of the CID, 6th floor , Udyog Bhavan, VUDA complex, Siripuram at 11am on September 23 according to CID Inspector Butchi Raju.
