ANATAPUR: AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the district on July 24 and will undertake a padayatra from Madakasira to Obuladevaracheruvu covering 15km. He will meet the kin of the farmers who had committed suicide unable to bear crop loss and mounting debts.

HYDERABAD: MUNICIPAL STAFF TO GO ON STRIKE: Municipal works in 10 municipalities and corporations in Andhra Pradesh will go on strike from Friday following a call given by AP Municipal Workers and Employees Union demanding implementation of PRC scales, 30 per cent house rent allowance and regularization of workers among others. Nearly 60,000 workers including public health, water supply and ministerial wings will participate the strike.

VIRASAM MEETING: The 45th foundation day of Revolutionary Writers Association called VIRASAM will be held at Sundariah Vignana Kendram on Sunday here in the back drop of the encounters in Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh border where in 19 year old law student was among four Maoists killed. The members of the association led by Varavara Rao one of the founders said in a press conference that the meeting will look at the question ‘which side writers, poets and intellectuals will take?’ in the struggle between he oppressed and the oppressor.

YSRCP TO STAGE DHARNA ON JULY 14: YSRCP has decided to stage dharnas on July 14 demanding hike in tobacco purchase price. The party alleged that big companies involved in purchase of tobacco from farmers were forming syndicates to bring down the prices drastically. Party MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarlu alleged that the government did not respond to repeated pleas of farmers and one ryot died of cardiac arrest unable to bear the poor price offered for the produce, he said. The party had decided to stage dharnas at all the tobacco auction platforms on July 14 along with farmers.

GOVERNMENT RELEASES ORDER TO CONTINUE PART-TIME STAFF IN JUNIOR COLLEGES: The Secretary, Education Sisodia issued orders on Thursday to continue the part time staff working in various government junior colleges (general stream) for the year 2015-16.

TIRUMALA: TTD GIFTS SARE FOR GODAVARI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) gifts traditional ‘sare’ to River Godavari in connection with auspicious Godavari Pushkarams scheduled to commence form July 14. ‘Sare’ – a set of congeries consisting of turmeric, vermilion, silk saree, and bangles will be presented to River Godavari at Rajahmundry on the first day of Pushkarams.

MINI-COMPLEX FOR RS.300 TICKET DEVOTTES: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer D Sambasiva Rao on Thursday said that plans are there to construct mini complex for the convenience of the devotes with Rs.300 tickets. He said that there are six compartments are in use for them and Rs.300 tickets were made available from 21,000 to 26,000. With this, the devotes are able to have the darshan within two to two and half hours, he said.

CENTRE SANCTIONS RS.13 CRORE FOR BEACH CORRIDOR: The Union Ministry of Tourism on Thursday sanctioned Rs.13 crore for the development of the Visakhapatnam-Bheemunipatnam beach corridor under the Swadesh Darshan project. It has a total of seven beaches stretching over a distance of 30 km. Under the project, parks, pathways, view towers and seating arrangements will be developed, roads with median lighting and illumination at select stretches, signage and tourist reception and interpretation centres will be made available for people.

RAJAHMUNDRY: SCR TO RUN 503 TRAINS FOR PUSHKARAMS: The South Central Railway will run 503 special train services during the Pushkarams according to Divisional Railway Manager Ashok Kumar. These would include MEMU, DEMU and passenger trains as 32 lakh commuters are expected to travel during the 12 day event. The SCR has provided 172 extra, LED boards, three free cloak room facilities one each at Kovvuru, Godavari and Rajahmundry stations. There were 35 additional booking, seven reservation, 11 enquiry counters in Rajahmundry station and 30 additional booking in Godavari Railway Station and Kovvuru stations, he said.

VISAKHAPATNAM CRPF CONSTABLE DIES AS RIFLE GOES OFF: A constable with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died when the service rifle he was cleaning went off accidently at GK Veedhi police station in the Agency area on Thursday. The deceased Ajay Kumar (26) native of Moradabad in UP, said the Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) Narsipatnam, Vishal Gunni. The deceased belonged to 42 Battalion of CRPF, Rajahmundry and was posted in anti-naxals operations.

VIJAYAWADA:SUPER-SPECIALITY MEDICAL ENTRANCE TEST ON AUGUST 9: Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences in-charge registrar G.Anuradha said that the an online entrance test for admissions into super-speciality (DM/MCh) courses will be held on August 9. The test will be held for the filling of the available seats in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and candidates can download the applications through the http://drntruhs.org. The online test will be held in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, she said.

BUMS RESULTS ANNOUNCED: Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences has announced the BUMS examinations conducted in May. The university authorities said that the students can get their marks verification and re-totalling before July 21 by paying Rs.500 per subject according to Controller of Examinations Dr. D Vijaya Kumar. Results can be had on the university website.

MUMBAI: TCS POSTS RS.5684 CSRORE PROFIT: One of the India’s largest software service provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has reported a net profit of Rs.5, 684 crore for the first quarter ended June this year. The consolidated revenue had gone to 16.08 per cent to Rs.25,668 crore for April-June quarters of this financial year from Rs.22,111 crore of the same period last financial year. The company announced an interim dividend of Rs 5.50 per equity share of Re 1 each of the company. TCS' operating margin stood at Rs 6,724 crore in the first quarter, a growth of 13.3% year-on-year (y-o-y). It added 20,302 (gross) employees during the said quarter, taking its total headcount to 3,24,935 as of June 30, 2015.

AIR COSTA OFFERS RS.1000 DISCOUNT: Air Costa on Thursday offered a flat discount of Rs.1,000 on economy and economy plus class tickets booked over the next five days to celebrate the one million passenger mark. The officer commences from today for a travel period ranging between August 1 to October 24 according to a release. It said that that the offer is valid for all its 32 daily flight services.

KCR TO INAUGURATE BUS MAKING PLANT: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao will inaugurate Deccan Auto Ltd., on July 11 that is setting up its bus manufacturing plant at Kodakachani in Medak district with an investment of Rs.250 crore. It will have a capacity to produce 3000 units per year. According to the Chairman, Deccan Auto Ltd., Prasad said that it is a world class facility and will serve both domestic and export markets in Asia and Africa.

TRUJET OPERATIONAL: Tollywood actor Ramcharan Tej who entered into aviation field and promoting ‘Turbo Mega’ speaking to media said that the services becomes operational from July 12. He said that Turbo Mega airways will fly its special services from July 14 to Rajahmundry on the eve of Godavari Pushkarams. It operate its services to Shirdi, Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. He said 10 per cent of the discounted seats to students and equal percent to senior citizens will be given. He said free transport service will be provided from Aurangabad to Shirdi, he said.
