GUNTUR: FARMER DIES IN SUICIDE DRAM OVER TEMPLE LAND AUCTION: With six farmers who died over temple lands claimed by the Endowments department in Korutadiparu village in Amruthaluru mandal in the district took a grimmer turn with another farmer dying at the Gunter General Hospital on Wednesday. Varnapu Sathaiah was among the six who drank pesticide on Monday at an auction of lands of Sri Chennakesava Swamy Temple were cultivating for decades with no titles. One farmer Talluri Bose Babu died at the Government General Hospital in Guntur on Tuesday evening before Sathaiah died in the same hospital. The opposition parties and the CPI(M) affiliated PARS staging a sit-in for over an hour demanding their lands be handed back to the farmers. The endowments department called off the auction.

HYDERABAD PAY HIKE FOR ANGANWADI WORKERS: Minster for Woman and Child Welfare Peethala Sujata has said that the Cabinet Sub-committee has given a positive decision in hiking the wages for Anganwadi workers. She said that the government wanted to transform the Anganwadis as corporate centres with professional functioning and the Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers would work in tandem to spread awareness among the people about good nutrition, immunization and pre-schooling for children. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced retirement benefit of Rs.50,000 and Rs.20,000 to Anganwadi workers and helpers respectively, she said.

T-ACB GETS TWO DAY CUSTODAY OF SANDRA VENKTA VEERAIAH: A local court here on Wednesday has granted two days custody of Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TTDP) MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, who was arrested in ‘cash-for-vote’ scam. The Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases Lakshmipathi directed the investigating agency to ensure hygienic accommodation during the custody period and he be provided with mineral water and other basic amenities. He would be examined from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Thursday and Friday in presence of a lawyer.

KURNOOL BHUMA NAGIREDDY GETS BAIL: YSRFCP MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy was granted bail by the Kurnool SC/ST Court on Wednesday. It may be recalled that he was arrested under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act on July 3 following a complaint by Red sanders DSCP Devadanam u/s 353,188 and 506 of IPC at the time of MLC elections. He was lodged at Allagadda sub-jail and later shifted to Kurnool General Hospital after he complained of chest pain. He was discharged from hospital after he got bail papers from the hospital.

TIRUMALA: TTD TO SUPPLY TEA AND SNACKS TO RS.300 TICKET HOLDERS: A high level meeting chaired by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer D Sambasiva Rao on Tuesday has decided to serve tea and snacks to the pilgrims coming for darshan with Rs.300 ticket. The meeting felt that the hospitality given to people to the dharma darshan and divya darshan queue lines ought to be extended to the special ticket holders as well.

VISAKHAPATNAM GVMC FIRE OFFICER TRAPPED: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths have arrested Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Fire Officer Srihari Jagannadh while accepting a bribe of Rs.35,000 from a complainant on Wednesday for releasing a no-objection certificate for a private English medium school at Sheelanagar through a private person. Both were arrested and would be produced before the ACB special court.

ARMY RECRUITMENT RALLY- ASPIRANT DIED AFTER COMPLETION OF THE RUN: A 20 year old P.Neelababu, a final year B.Sc, student from Tudi village of Veeraghattam mandal in Srikakulam collapsed on the field after he successfully completing the 1.6 The incident took at 6.30am. He was shifted to King George Hospital (KGH) immediately. According to KGH in-charge Superintendent, he was admitted at a critical condition but was revived and shifted to Intensive Respiratory Care Unit. When his condition turns to critical, based on the orders of the Collector shifted him to CARE for bedside dialysis. He breathed his last at 4.30pm said doctors at CARE while undergoing treatment.

SPECIAL COUNSELLING ON JULY 17: Special counselling for admission into M.Ed course n Andhra Unvieristy campus, PG Centres of affiliated colleges would be held for AUCT 2015 rank holders in view of structure having been revised for the course on July 17 according to AU Directorate of Admissions who said on Wednesday. The counselling would be held at the office of the AU Directorate of Admissions at Vijayanagar Palace, Peda Waltair form 9am on July 17, he said.
