TDP URGES PRESIDENT TO DISQUALIFY DEFECTED MLAs: The Telangana Telugu Desam Party urged President Pranab Mukherjee to initiate appropriate action for disqualifying five party MLAs who defected to TRS in the last one year. A delegation led by president L.Ramana called on the President at Rashtrapati Nilayam and submitted a memorandum. They said that 15 candidates elected on behalf of TDP in Telangana and five MLAs – T.Srinivas Yadav, T.Krishna Reddy, Ch.Dhrama Reddy, M.Kishan Reddy and M.Krishna Rao switched loyalties to TRS.

BIDS FOR PHASE II DELP SOON: The bids for the second phase of domestic efficient lighting programme may be opened on July 15. The Energy Department has initiated works on the second phase. The distribution of 56 lakh bulbs were completed in Anantapur, Srikakulam and West Godavari districts in the first phase.

ANANTAPURCOLLECTOR SURRENDERS RDO TO GOVERNMENT: The District Collector Kona Sasidhar has surrendered Dharmavaram Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Nagaraju on Sunday following allegations of sexual harassment against him. A lady Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) had alleged that the RDO had harassed her for the last few days. The collector constituted a committee to inquiry into the incident headed by Joint Collector Lakshmikantham.

CHITOOR PASTOR ARRESTED ON SEXUALLY HARAASSEMNT CHARGES: The district police have arrested a pastor on Sunday on charges of sexually assaulting a 15 year old girl on the premises of Shermam Girls School. The girl was studying there for the last three years. She informed the classmates and teachers that Samuel Prafulla alias Aravind had sexually assaulted her. They took her to police and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint and the victim’s parents, the police arrested the pastor.

VISAKHAPATNAMCPI(M) CALL FOR TWO DAY BANDH: The protest week called by the CPI (Maoist) from July 1 passed off peacefully in the areas along with Andhra Pradesh and Odisha boarder. This would be followed by a two day bandh in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana areas on Monday and Tuesday. The party wanted the people to observe the bandh in protest against deployment of paramilitary forces and to demand release of all political prisoners.

VIJAYAWADA YSRCP DEMANDS RS.25 LAKH EX-GRATIA TO THOSE KILLED DUE TO ELECTICAL SHOCK: YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy demanded payment of Rs.25 lakh ex-gratia to the families of those five persons who died due to electrical shock. He wanted the government to take up the responsibility. It may be recalled that a family of four and one of another family died at Urmila Nagara in Bhavanipuram, Vijayawada on June 30. He consoled the kith and kin of the family of the deceased. He said that the 11kv lines that goes through residential areas should be covered with rubber pipes or they have to go through underground lines. He said that these deaths are due to the negligence of the Electrical department. He said a petition will be filed in the High Court against APTRANSCO’s negligence.
