HYDERABAD:TDP LEADERS TO CONVICNE JANA SENA CHIEF: In an attempt to convince the chief of Jana Sena Pawan Kalyan, Minister for Agriculture P.Pulla Rao said that they would explain why the government could not help issuing notices to acquire 3,000 acres of farm land in three riverfront villages in Amaravathi. ‘ We will convince him on the need to acquire farm land. It’s not possible to ignore the chunks of land amid 33,000 acres. He may not have been given the correct picture by farmers who are opposed of parting their lands, he said. Minister Ravela Kishore Babu appealed Pawan not to create hurdles for development of new capital by opposing acquisition of 2,200 acres.

26 OFFICERS APPOINTED FOR LAND ACQUISITION: The State Government has appointed 26 special Deputy Collectors for Land Acquisition for state capital at Amaravathi and Principal Secretary (Revenue) JC Sharma issued an order on Thursday.

REVANTH REDDY TAKEN INTO PREVENTIVE CUSTODY: TDP MLA A.Revanth Reddy was taken into preventive custody when he staged a dharna at Kodangal in Mahabubnagar district expressing his protest at the way he was not invited for an official programme through he was the sitting MLA. When Jupalli Krishna Rao came to Kodangal to inaugurate an Agricultural Market Yard godown and waited for an hour for Revanth who did not turn up even the police officials requested him to participate saying that it amounted to a breach of protocol apart from being a personal insult to a sitting MLA. His supporters shouted slogans at two places in Kodangal town before finally landing at the venue of the function. After an half an hour, police took him into preventive custody and took him away to Daulatabad police station where the supporters staged a dharna.

STUDENT JAC PETITIONS TO HRC ON THE SUICIDES OF GIRL STUDENTS IN NARAYANA COLLEGE: JAC Chairman Lagudu Govinda Rao on Thursday filed a petition at Human Rights Commission on the suicides of two girl students in Narayana College at YSR district Kadapa. The Commission based on the petition ordered for a report from the Superintendent of Police before September 28.

KAKINADA: PG ECET COUNSELLING FROM AUGUST 25: AP PG ECT2015 counselling will be held from August 25 according to convenor, JNTUK Registrar GVR Prasad Raju. The candidates who got ranks in GATE, G PAT, PGECET are eligible for the counselling for ME, M.Pharm courses. The counselling will be held at JNTUK, JNTUA, Vijayawada SRR SVR Government College, Nagarjuna, Andhra and SVU. The allocation of seats will be posted on the website on September 9, he said.

NELLORE: FIRST YEAR DEGREE STUDENT TALLERU RAVALI COMMITS SUICIDE: A first year degree student of DR Women’s College, Gudur Talleru Ravali was found dead in her hostel room around 10am on Thursday. She was admitted to the college hostel on July 27 and went home on leave form August 6 to 12. On Thursday morning, she took breakfast with her roommates and attended classes till 9.30am after which she returned along to room on the pretext of taking some note book. Later she was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the room. Sources said that she might have committed suicide.

RAJAHMUNDRY: YARLAGADD WANTS MAIN CAMPUS OF TELUGU UNIVERISTY: Former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad and Sannidhanam Sastry staged a day long fast demanding that the main campus of Telugu University be set up here. They opposed the ‘controversial’ decision of Telangana government on three Sahitya Peetams of Telugu University in united Andhra Pradesh. Yarlagadda demanded that the main campus of the university be set up on the premises of Rajahmundry Sahitya Peetham for all the 13 districts.

TADEPALLIGUDEM (WEST GODAVARI): RAGGING-STRINGENT STEPS SOON: The AP Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Thursday said a separate Act in consultation with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on the lines of Nirbhaya Act to stop ragging in colleges and hostels. He explained to the Union Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu of the steps taken to stop ragging on the university and colleges. He inquired the progress of Rishiteswari case from the Commissioner of Technical Education B.Udayalakshmi who is currently is the Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University. He also inquired over phone from the Secretary, Intermediate Board education on the conditions in the Narayana Junior College, Kadapa where two girl students committed suicide.

TIRUPATI: AMMAVARI ASIRVACHANAM FROM AUGUST 28: The TTD will introduce a new seva from August 28. Pilgrims can avail ‘Ammavari Asrivachanam’ at the Tiruchanoor temple and the seva will be rendered to the devotees on the payment of Rs.500 per ticket on which two persons will be allowed. They will also be presented with one upper cloth and blouse piece, one laddu and one vada.

’ASSEMBLY WINTER SESSION IN HYDERABAD ONLY’, SAYS SPEAKER: AP Speaker Dr. Kodela Siva Prasada Rao said on Thursday that the winter session of the AP Assembly will be conducted in Hyderabad. On adopting smart villages, he said that the concept had already caught up with the NRIs, business tycoons and NGOs who have already jointed the noble mission, he said.

VISAKHAPATNAM TANGUTURI BIRTH ANNIVERSARY A STATE FESTIVAL: The 144th birth anniversary of the first Chief Minister of the then Andhra Pradesh and freedom fighter Tanguturi Prakasam is being celebrated as State festival from this year. The celebrations will be held at Dr.Y.V.S.Murti auditorium on AU Engineering College campus on Sunday and a short film on Tanguturi’s life would be screened during the programme said District Collector Dr. N.Yuvaraj.

STONE LAID FOR EIA’S FOOD TEST LABORATORY: Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday laid foundation stone for laboratory-cum-office complex of the Export Inspection Agency at Gambheeram here on Thursday. It is a long pending demand of the seafood exporters from the region who send frozen shrimp and other marine products to the EIA Chennai for certification, she said.
