‘112’ is the Country single emergency number shortly

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recommended 112 as a single emergency number for India.

According to its recommendations, all calls made to the number either from land-line or mobile phone will be routed to a Public Safety Answering Point. The TRAI has also recommended that the existing emergency numbers such as 100, 101, 102 and 108 will retain as secondary numbers and all calls made to these should be routed through 112.

Access to all phones :Access to this number will be permitted even from phones that do not have out-going facility or barred or service temporarily suspended.
