Government plans for 5000 MW of solar power

The State Government has plans to generate 5,000 MW of solar power by the year 2019 by setting up a string of projects and parks in cooperation with NTPC, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited and Solar Energy Corporation of India.
Speaking to press, Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy said that the government would soon come out with a new solar policy that would incorporate the suggestions given by the developers including an escalation clause of 3 per cent every year for ten years and single window clearance for projects.
Ajay Jain said that the government is expecting Rs.500 crore from the Centre for the projects. It had identified for both solar and wind projects in four Rayalaseema districts of Anantapur, Chitoor, Kurnool and Kadapa.
