AP pilgrims rushed to hospital after taking poisonous food

August 3, 2014 - Hyderabad

Nearly 40 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh who are on a pilgrimage to Kasi were prone to ill health after consuming foot at a hotel in Howrah on Sunday.

The affected pilgrims were rushed to a hospital at Marwadi Street and are given medical aid. All the pilgrims are from Nellore and Ongole according to available information.

Minister P Narayana said that all the people will be brought to their natives places safely. He said that the pilgrims have fallen sick after taking food at a hotel. 10 devotees are being treated at Apollo hospital. One Murali is in intensive care but there is no threat to his life, said Narayana. Government would come to their rescue in all manners. Health of six pilgrims said to be critical and are being treated in ICU.A help line was created at Nellore Collectorate with number: 98499 04077.

11 pilgrims have been shifted to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata
Following an initiative from the State Government to ensure medical help, 11 pilgrims were shifted to Apollo Hospital from Marwadi Street Society Hospital. The remaining 18 pilgrims were also being given good medical care. Senior IAS officer Satish Chandra spoke to the officials in Kolkata and made arrangement. The pilgrims would be sent to their homes by air via Chennai on Monday. Joint Collector G Rekha Rani who is coordinating the relief measures said that there was no immediate danger to any pilgrim.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao leaves for Kolkata
The Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Monday left for Calcutta to make arrangements for shifting the pilgrims to their native places and to oversee medical aid to them.
