100 Gurukula Schools to come up in the next five years

The Minister for State Excise, BC Welfare Kollu Ravindra participating at a review meeting at Nakkavanipalem Girls Gurukula School at Narasapuram Mandal in West Godavari along with Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad on Sunday said that the Government plans to establish 100 Gurukula Schools in the next five years.

Speaking to press, he said that the government has determined to extend quality education on par with Corporate educational institutions. 31 Gurukulas in 800 hostels in the State are getting good results by competing with corporate ones. Steps are being taken to extend quality health care to students with Aarogysri health cards. Efforts are being made to post the marks on line and SMSes to student parents.

The Minister said that Rs.1100 crores are being released as a stipend to the students in a couple of days. On belt shops, Ravindra said that actions in full length is being taken to weed them out and added that cases have been slapped on 2000 persons and arrested 1500 persons involved in belt shops. 12 Excise check posts are being created. A notification will be issued for recruitment of 500 staff required for these check posts.
