Wrong design is the cause of Palem Volvo bus accident, confirms CID

CID Additional Director General of Police Krishna Prasad said that the investigation in the Volvo bus accident that happened in Palem on October 30, 2013 was due to wrong designing of the Bus.

The CID that investigated the cause of the accident had come to conclusion after completion of the investigation. He said that 9 persons including wife of JC Prabahakara Reddy were arrested. He said that cases under 36 sections have been registered and Uma Prabhakar Reddy has been named as A1 in the charge sheet. He said that negligence of the driver and owners, defective road and more over designing are the chief reasons for the bus fire accident. He said that after the accident, Jabbar Travels and Diwakar Roadlines have created a fake lease agreement, he said.

It may be recalled here that on October 30, a private (bus (AP 02 TA 0963) was leased by Jabbar Travels, Bangalore, from Diwakar Road Lines, owned by former minister J C Diwakar Reddy) Volvo bus with 52 passengers on its way from Bangalore to Hyderabad caught fire at 5.10am after hitting a culvert. The accident occurred when the driver attempted to overtake a car killing 45 on board leaving seven injured including driver, conductor and five passengers. It happened on the NH 44 at Palem in Mahabubnagar. The entire buses with 45 passengers were brought to ashes within a half-an hour by the time an ambulance reached the spot. The five injured passengers are Masood Pasha, Yogesh, Yaya Singh, Srikar and Rajesh. All of them were admitted at Apollo Hospital near Kanchan Bagh, Hyderabad.
