Wipro to provide employment to 7000 people in Visakhapatnam

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday.
Premji said that it plans to develop a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Visakhapatnam on 2.1 acres of land to construct five lakh sq.ft. space and provide employment to nearly 7,000 people.
The State Government has in 2004-05 has allotted 7.14 acres of land in Visakhapatnam at Rs.80 lakh per acre on an outright sale basis. It constructed 2 lakh sq ft. on four acres and employed 650 professionals.
The Wipro chairman requested the Chief Minister to issue a no-objection certificate to develop the balance of 3.1 acres of land which was agreed by the Chief Minister.
It may be noted here that Wipro has its presence in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam and the export turnover at Hyderabad is Rs.3,500 crore with an employee basis of over 10,000.
