Union Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao to sail with BJP

Union Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao will resign from Congress party on Thursday and is likely to sail with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The three decades of association with the party is likely to come to an end with his resignation to the party as well as Union Minster's post in protest against division of the State. He was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1984 and subsequently won in 1989, 1998, 2004 and 2009 on Congress ticket and took as Union Minister on June 17, 2013.

The efforts of Sambasiva Rao to join the TDP could not be materialised with the strong opposition for the party cadre in West Godavari to prompted him to sail with BJP according to sources.
