Global Tenders invited for setting of 500mw solar power plant

The Andhra Pradesh Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) and AP Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) have jointly called for an international bids for the setting up of a 500 mw solar power plant in the State.
The Chef General Manager of APEPDCL B Ramesh Prasad said that the power generated will be shared by both the distribution companies equally and will be distributed across the 13 districts of the State.
The last date for the submitting the tender is September 17 and the letter of intent to the successful bidder will be given on October 14 and the power purchase Agreement will be signed on October 29. He said that the successful bidder will be given 12 months’ time to complete the project. He said that the said plant need not be based at one single location but can be distributed across the State. He said that they have identified nearly 26 locations in the five coastal districts under the APEPDCL and the total absorbing capacity is about 835 MW.
Ramesh said that the average purchase rate for APEPDCL under long term basis is around Rs.3.38 and under short term it is about Rs.5.40per unit. The present contribution of solar power is about 0.09 per cent and it will be enhanced to 4 per cent with this set-up.
