Telangana State to become a reality as Rajya Sabha clears the Bill

Rajya Sabha has passed the AP State Reorganization Bill 2013 Thursday paving the way for the formation of Telangana State. Telangana is all set to become the 29th State and is just one step away. The Bill which was earlier passed in the Lok Sabha will be sent to the President of India as part of the process.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, while participating in the debate in Rajya Sabha Thursday, announced a host of measures to residual Andhra Pradesh.
The sops announced for Seemandhra and Rayalaseema regions are:
- Granting Special Category status to Seemandhra.
- Tax incentives to promote industrialization and economic growth as was done to earlier to other States,
- Special category status to Seemandhra for a period of five years;
- Special developmental package for backward regions in backward districts of Rayalaseema and North Andhra on lines of Bundelkhand in MP.
The new State formation will be so fixed in relation to the notified date so as to enable preparatory work to be done relating to personnel, finance and distribution of Assets and Liabilities.
