Telugu Desam Party plans to give free mobile phones for women protection

After introducing Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) for selection of candidates, Telugu Desam Party now in plans to provide free mobile phones to women from BPL families equipped with GPRS technology for women safety with a helpline number.

The phones provide communication, the GPRS technology enables authorities to locate the exact spot form where the call was made. It is the idea that once the location is known will be easier for the police to rush to the spot to extend security services to women in distress.

After meeting with the manifesto committee members, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu will be announcing a full-fledged scheme soon. The party plans to depute a DSP rank officer at the district level along with the support staff to exclusively look into the incidents of violence/harassment. There would also be a separate wing at the State level to monitor the complaints and initiate necessary action at the earliest.
