Supreme Court issues notices to Centre on division petition - Stay appeal rejected

The Supreme Court on Friday dealing with a batch of petitions filed by former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy along with 16 others challenging the Division of the State has served notices to the Centre.
A Division Bench comprising of Justice HL Dattu and SA Bobde while admitting the petitions have ordered issuance of notices. The councils of the petitioners have appealed the Court to issue stay on the division process which was rejected. It directed the Centre to submit a comprehensive report to the Court. The case has been referred to the Constitutional bench.
