State Government forms Panel on Metro Rail DPR

The State Government on Saturday constituted a technical committee to study the feasibility of Rail-based Mass Rapid Transit System in Visakhapatnam.
The Union Government has already accorded in-principle approval for the study and preparation of a detailed project report. The Committee will scrutinize and evaluate the bids for ‘Consultancy for preparation of studies and detailed project report for Rail-based Mass Rapid Transit System (Metro) in Visakhapatnam.
The Committee comprises of Chief Engineer or an officer of the equivalent rank from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, head of the department of planning of the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, Professor of Urban Transport at CEPT university, Ahmedabad, a PPP expert or any other member suggested by the State Government. The other are the GVMC Chief City Planner, VUDA Chief Urban Planner and GVCM Chief Engineer.
