Chandrababu Naidu wants to make the State drought proof
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu wanted the irrigation officials to expedite completion of 54 ongoing irrigation projects and prepare an action plan to make the State drought-proof. He announced that a State Irrigation Advisory Committee would be set up to study water scarcity in mandals located near basin Krishna, Godavari, Penna, Vamsadara and Nagavali rivers and formulate an action plan to provide water to these mandals.
Government plans to distribute ipads to School students
HYDERABAD: Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao said on Wednesday that the Government is thinking of distributing I pads to School children as part of making the State as Digital State. He said laptops and I pads will be given to all the Minister, he said.

Joint Collector directs LPG dealers
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Joint Collector Praveen Kumar directed the LPG dealers on Tuesday to stop the refill supply to Deepam beneficiaries if they have not completed Aadhaar seeding process by September 7. The beneficiaries have to furnish details of their Aadhaar card to their respective dealers immediately, he said at a meeting with the LPG dealers . He wanted cent per cent Aadhaar seeding completed within a week.

Rail commuters stage ‘rail roko’ over inordinate delay
VISAKHAPATNAM: Hundreds of commuters of Kakinada-Visakhapatnam-Kakinada passenger staged a ‘rail roko’ near Gopalapatnam railway station on Wednesday to express their ire over the abnormal delay of the train everyday. The Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police personnel managed to pacify the irate passengers. Employees and workers from Annavaram, Tuni, Yelamanchili and Anakapalli travel by in the train.
Bandh continues in protest against decision on State Capital
KURNOOL: The Rayalaseema Rajadhani Sadhana Committee in protest against the TDP Government’s decision of establishing State Capital in between Vijayawada and Guntur has called for a bandh and is continuing. TTD bans advance reservation of rooms
TIRUMALA: The Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams management has resolved to do away with the system of advance reservation at Tirumala from September 25 till the completion of nine day annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara Swamy in more than 6650 cottages atop the Hill. TTD said that the cottage donor recommendation letters will not be entertained during the festival period.
Visakhapatnam Bar Association demands for High Court
VISAKHAPATNAM: Members of the Bar Association of Visakhapatnam Association have demanded that the Government set up the State High Court here. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the Visakhapatnam Bar Association president J Pridhviraj said that Visakhapatnam, the second largest city in the State would be most suitable place for the High Court. He said that the city has 412 acres of land apart from rail, road, sea and Airway.
Beach cleaning programme on September 27
VISAKHAPATNAM: The local body of NGO Ken Foundation Society is going to conduct a beach cleaning programme ‘Vizag Costal cleanup drive 2014 on September 27 between 8am to 12pm. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has released the poster of this campaign on Wednesday in Hyderabad along with the chairman and members of the campaign. It expects participation of 40,000 volunteers, the campaign aims to educate the beach users to keep it clean and tidy.
3725 MBBS seats filled up
VIJAYAWADA: In the ongoing counselling being held for medical admissions at NTRUHS, 3,725 MBBS and 686 BDS seats have been filled up till Wednesday evening. Counselling for the ranks 6501 to 10,000 will be held on Thursday for reserved categories.
Rly.Engineer injured in a train mishap
TANUKU: A railway track engineer Pulaparthi Manikyala Rao who was inspecting the railway track near the station on Wednesday along with gangmen was hit by a train proceeding to Rajahmundry from Bhimavaram. The train dragged him to some distance injuring him severally. He was shifted to a private hospital in Vijayawada and is undergoing treatment.

Fire breaks out in TTD godown
TIRUPATI: Fire broke out in a marketing department godown of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Wednesday morning bringing down the rice bags to ashes. The TTD fire officials have brought the flames under control. The cause of the fire is said to be electrical short circuit.
