Security at vital points in twin cities is still a dream
February 21, 2014 - Hyderabad
Exactly on this day last year (February 21. 2013), two bomb blasts occurred in Hyderabad that trigerred panic among the residents of twin cities. The blasts occured minutes apart from each other, one at a roadside eatery near Anand Tiffin Centre and another at Venkatadri Theatre and bus stand. On that ill-fated day as many as 17 people were killed and 138 injured in these two incidents.
Even though a year passed, the security measures that were announced by the State Government then are still to be materialized. The then Home Minister Sabitha Indira Reddy announced establishing of 4,000 closed circuit cameras at a cost of Rs. 425 crores at strategic locations. The promise could not be materialised probably due to funds crunch. The much heap for installation of the high tech security arrangements had become a dream so far.
