R&B and Transport departments require Rs.7,784 crore’, says Sidda Raghava Rao

AP Minister for Roads and Buildings and Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao said that he sought Rs.7,784 crore for R&B and Transport departments in the Budget.
Speaking to media at the secretariat, he said that Rs.6,379 crores for roads, Rs.871 crore for RTC, Rs.169 crores for Transport, and Rs.3.91 crore for secretariat maintenance totalling to Rs.7,784 crores and the plans have been sent for allocation in the budget.
Raghava Rao said that Road Transport Corporation (RTC) is under losses to a tune of Rs.2,000 crores and to meet the financial crisis, the government plans to accord permission for leasing the vacant lands. He said that 1500 new buses will be introduced and out of these 1,000 are for Palle Velugu and another 500 for JNNURM.
Plans are there to create ‘C –corridor’ in between Visakhapatnam-Chennai and will be coordinated with the national highways and a study will be completed by10th of August’, said the R&B Minister.
In the back drop of Medak Nanded Train accident, he had ordered the Transport department officials to check all buses belonging to Schools and Colelges in all the 13 districts’, said Sidda Raghava Rao.
