'We will rescue those Telugu people trapped in Iraq', says Palle Raghunath Reddy

Information, Public Relations and Information Technology, Language and Culture, and Minority Welfare Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said that the government would come to the rescue of those trapped in Iraq. He said that the government would come forward to bring back those who want to come back.

Helpline opened:

The Minister said that a helpline is opened with No. 040-23454946 and 9949054467.

It may be recalled that there is instability in Iraq following a clash between two communities. The government is making arrangements in bringing back Telugu people safely to the State.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana State Mohd.Ali on Wednesday said that government has taken steps to bring back those trapped and the Telangana government is already in touch with the Centre in this direction. The Telangana government directed the district Collectors to collect details such as the names of the stranded persons, their passport numbers, their location in Iraq, the company for which they were working, the local address and contact numbers. Helplines had already been established in the Indian Mission in Baghdad. A helpline was also set up in the NRI Cell in Telangana. Nearly 1,000 persons from Telangana are feared to have been trapped there but no official confirmation was there on the exact number of people.
