'Privates buses cannot be seized during journey' , says Andhra Pradesh High Court

AP High Court Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao restrained the authorities from seizing buses operated by private persons in middle of the journey. He made it clear that the operator be given three days' time to complete the journey and then report to the officers and then only the penal action can be taken.
Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao passed these interim orders in a case filed by contract carriage operators. The petitioner's complained that the officials were seizing buses in the middle of journey in the name of violations and such action was not permissible under law.
Judge said if the officers came across violation of permit conditions, the registration papers may be impounded and the bus operation be given three days' time to complete the journey and then report to the officers concerned. He said that the vehicles need not be impounded in the middle of the journey and asked the government to file detailed counter with records.
