Post bifurcation - Additional batallions sought

The Andhra Pradesh State Government has sought additional battalions of Andhra Pradesh Special Protection (SPSP) from the Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami, who is in Hyderabad on his visit to review the progress of bifurcation.
The Union Home Secretary has met the Chief Secretary PK Mohanty, Director General of Police B Prasada Rao, Principal Home Secretary, TP Das and other senior officials at the Secretariat on Wednesday to discuss the assistance required from the Centre for establishing institutions like Greyhounds, Octopus and training centres in the residuary Andhra Pradesh.
They discussed the distribution of All India Service officers between the successor States. The IAS, IPS and IFS officers represented that they be given an option to choose either of the State. Gosawami said that the Department of Personnel and Training would have to take a decision.
