Police arrests Chairman of Green Field Residential School for blind

SARPAVARAM Jn. (KAKINADA):
Police on Wednesday arrested the Chairman of Greenfield residential school for blind at Thimmapuram in Kakinada. It may be recalled that the Director KV Rao and Principal Srinivas was earlier arrested and sent to judicial remand. The court faulted with the way in which the Chairman was arrested and directed the police to grant station bail. Accordingly, the Chairman Satyanarayana was granted bail by the police.

Meanwhile the Chairman Satyanarayana speaking to media said that the arrest is unnatural. He accused the police that they have arrested him when he was called by them as part of enquiry. He said that the arrested is as part of harassment.

It may be recalled here that the Principal T Srinivasa Rao and Correspondent KV Rao have inhumanly beaten the blind students P.Sai (12), P.Surendera (12) and Joseph on July 18 the video of which was released to media on July 21. The school that is situated at Sarpavaram junction in Kakinada was attacked by the parents and relatives of the students and the timely intervention of Police could avert major damage. The District Collector Neethu Prasad who visited the school directed the District Educational Officer Srinivas Reddy to inquire into the incident and submit a report. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu too expressed shock over it and directed the administration to take steps to prevent such incidents in future. Police have arrested the duo and a case was registered against them. National Human Rights Commission taking a serious note on the Green Field Residential School for Blind, Kakinada incident has directed the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and District Collector to submit a report within 4 weeks. The commission termed the incident as violation of Child rights.
