PG Medical counselling likely by month end

A total of 1,165 seats in Government and 1,214 seats in private medical colleges have been filled in both MD and MS in last year through counselling.

Though Medical PGCET was conducted and announced ranks, the admission procedure has been delayed due to various aspects and one is that there was no clarity on the unformed fee structure. The another reason attributed for the delay is the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh and decision have to be taken by both the respective governments. Sources said that Telangana government hinted of continuing the fee structure as was earlier while Andhra Pradesh Government is yet to take a decision.

Uncertainty over seats

The Medical Council of India has already sanctioned 28 seats for 2014-15 academic year in Government colleges. They permitted Gandhi Medical College (Secunderabad) two in Pulmonology, one in Anaesthesia, Osmania Medical College (Hyderabad) four in Pulmonology Pharmacology two in Government medical College in Anantapur, Physicology three in Srikakulam RIMs, Five in General Medicine, six in Orthopedics, two in Radio diagnosis and three in Ophthalmology at Kurnool Medical College.

The MCI has sanctioned seats to private colleges and they are Alluri Sitarama Raju Academy of Medical Sciences Asram in Eluru 10, Dr.Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences (Chinoutapilli) 7, MNR Medical College 15, Bhaskara Medical Colleges -10, Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences 7, Maharaja Medical College (Viziangaram) 2, GSL medical College, Rajahmundry – 9, Konaseema Institute of Medical Sciences (Amalapuram)
