June 27, 2014 - Hyderabad
VIJAYAWADA: The Post Graduate Medical Counselling that is under way at Dr NTR University of Health Sciences has been cancelled following protests by students.
The students and parents appeared there at alleged that injustice is being done to reserved category. The authorities have taken a decision to cancel the counselling that is being held for the last three days.
Authorities are making arrangements to conduct the counselling afresh. It may be recalled that the first phase of counselling for admission to postgraduate degree and diploma courses offered by the medical colleges in the purview of Osmania, Sri Venkateswara and Andhra universities began at NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) here on Wednesday the 25th June, 2014.
The aggrieved candidates demanded that the distribution of unreserved (non-local) seats should be even in all the three universities – Osmania, Sri Venkateswara and Andhra which the Vice-chancellor said was not possible as the non-local quota was dependent on the total number of seats that vary from university to another. The VC said that same norms related to reservation and seat matrix was followed as was in the past.
The counselling has been put off to Sunday and the revised schedule will be informed to the candidates', said the Vice-Chancellor.
