  • CPM non-committal on alliances with YSRCP
    Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat said during his visit to Hyderabad that the party would meet on Saturday and a decision would be likely. He said that the party would hold discussions with the CPI on the possible seat sharing for Lok Sabha in Tamil Nadu after the AIADMK had called off the alliance talks with the Left parties.
  • TDP MLA Ramakoaiah and district president arrested and released
    VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA from Nuzvid Chinnam Ramakoaiah, Nuzvid town party president N Venu along with 45 others were arrested and produced before the court. They were sent on 14 days remand. But all of them were released on bail. Nuzvid police said that they were arrested in a case relating to staging of Rasta roko in December 2010. Nearly 35 other party workers were taken into custody for organizing dharna in protest of power cuts in August 2012.
  • EAMCET results on June 9
    HYDERABAD: EAMCET-2014 results will be released on June 9 instead of June 2 as announced earlier. The decision was taken as the EAMCET was also postponed to May 22 from the scheduled May 17 in view of general elections said EAMCET -2014 convenor NV Ramana Rao.
  • MPTC and ZPTC elections will be on April 6
    In the back drop of the Supreme Court direction on Friday, Election Commission is planning to conduct ZPTC and MPTC elections will be on April 6 and an official announcement has to come from the Government. A notification will be issued on Sunday or Monday according to sources.

    Narsapur Congress MLA Kothapalli Subbarayudu, Tanuku MLA Karumuri Nageswara Rao and Yarragondapalem (Prakasam) MLA Suresh met YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy at Karampudi on Friday.
  • Voters have an opportunity for enrolling names
    The Election Commission has given a final opportunity for the Indian voters to get them enrolled putting March 9 as the final day for enrolment. The EC also directed to SEC to organize camps on Sunday for this purpose.
  • Kamalanath Committee calls on Chief Secretary
    The members of Kamalathan Committee on the division of government employees between Telangana and residual Andhra Pradesh met the Chief Secretary PK Mohanty on Thursday. Modalities have been discussed for distribution of 56,000 state cadre employees between these two along with issues of departments to be created and financial matters were also discussed.

    TIRUPATI: Union Minister Kamalanath responding to Supreme Court directions said that the Gove4rnment will file affidavit after receiving summons from it. It may be recalled that a Division Bench dealing with a batch of petitions have challenged the Centre's decision to divide the State.

    Former Foreign Secretary , JS Mehata (92) passed away after a brief illness. He worked as Union Secretary from 1976-1979 and as 1970-1974 Commissioner to Tanzania from was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2002.

    CHITOOR: Former minister Galla Aruna Kumar along with her son and noted industrialist Galla Jayadev will be joining Telugu Desam Party on Saturday in presence of its president Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Jayadev is likely to contest for MP from Guntur according to sources.

    Union Minister D Purandeswari will meet BJP national leaders on Friday. She will meet BJP senior leader LK Advani at 2.30pm president Rajnath Singh at 3.30pm. She will address the press at 7pm.

    GUNTUR: Higher officials in the Excise Department have placed an Excise Sub Inspector along with two constables Gopayya and Srinivasa Reddy on charges of accepting bribes.
  • Police takes the son of a DSP along with three other suspects in theft case
    HYDERABAD: Police have taken the son of a DSP working in Karimnagar along with three other suspects in a vehicle theft case. SVV Prasad a resident of Banjara Hills on May 22 parked his Skoda Superb car in a valet parking in Dasapalla Hotel in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad and found it was stolen. On a complaint, the police have transferred the case to CCS who have taken four suspects into custody and are investigating.
  • AP division petitions to come before Supreme Court today
    Supreme Court will on Friday hear a batch of petitions filed against the division of Andhra Pradesh. As many 17 petitions challenging the decision to divide the State of Andhra Pradesh will come up before a Division Bench on Friday. The Division Bench comprising of Justice HL Dattu and Justice SA Bobde will take up the issue.
  • Krishna Water dispute case to come up before Supreme Court
    The Andhra Pradesh State Government in January 2014 filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on sharing of Krishna Waters. The petition will come up before the Supreme Court on Friday for hearing.
  • Supreme Court of India will hear petitions challenging Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and formation of Telangana State. Former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is one of the petitioners.
