  • AP High Court refuses to stay poll process
    Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday refused to grant stay order to stop the election process in the State.
    A division bench comprising of Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sen Gupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar was dealing with a writ petition filed by TY Das, MLA of Pamarru, Krishna district who contended that elections should be held in Telangana and the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh. The court refused to stall the elections and rejected the prayer of the petitioner.
  • APCC bus yatra to begin from Srikakulam
    The newly formed APCC for Seemandhra will launch its week long bus yatra from Srikakulam on Friday with the aim of boosting the sagging morale of the party cadre following bifurcation of the State. The exercise is aimed at rebuilding the party's image that has taken a beating for its role in the bifurcation.

    HYDERABAD: A division bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising Justice KC Bhanu and Justice Anis dismissed a case filed by IAS officer Sabyasachi Ghosh, secretary to Industries and Commerce Department. He challenged the transfer from one subject to another.

    Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmiah expressed confidence of winning 100 MLAs and 15 MP seats in Telangana State. He said that they have not received any alliance offers from TRS and the door are open for any moves if comes.
    Ponnala said that TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao is making provocative statements in respect of employee's options and on Polavaram submerged mandals. He wanted KCR to think of before making any statements.

    Following the directions of the Governor, Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education Chairman Venugopal Reddy on Thursday commenced inquiry into the Medical PG paper leak. He is accepting complaints from the students from 2pm to 6pm and said will continue tomorrow if they need., said Venugopal Reddy.

    VISAKHATNAM: Megastar Chiranjeevi fans on Thursday announced that they are boycotting the Congress Bus Yatra proposed by Union Minister Chiranjeevi. Fans association president Raghavarao said that Chiranjeevi who floated Praja Rajyam Party and later merged with Congress deceived the people. He said that if the Pawn party is for questioning it is okay but floating it for political purposes will be a question, he said.

  • Doctors demand for CBI inquiry into PG entrance paper leakage
    VIJAYAWADA: Doctors numbering nearly 100 in Siddhartha Medical College on Thursday staged a black badge protest demanding an enquiry by the CBI in the alleged malpractices in medical PG entrance. The enquiry committee appointed by Governor is on the job, the doctors plan to meet the committee and submit memorandum to them at 2pm.
  • Fire department has finally able to control the fire that gutted thousands of hectares of forest in Seshahalam, eight kilometers away from Srisailam. Forest department and Fire department worked together to prevent the first from spreading further. The fire spread rapidly last night forcing pilgrims going on foot to the Tirumala temple for some time.
