- Kavuri Sambasiva Rao to join TDP
ELURU: Union Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao is likely to join TDP according to his close aids. He would be meeting with his supporters here on March 16 and a decision will announce. He is expected to resign from the post and from the primary membership of Congress. Meanwhile, Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar in West Godavari threatened to leave TDP in the event of his admission.
- Police book case for auctioning of MPTC post
NIZAMABAD: Marchreddy mandal police on Wednesday registered an FIR against eight persons who were involved in the auction of MPTC post of Marchreddy-II on Thursday night. The case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Mandal Prajaparishad Development Officer (MPDO) Lingeswara Rao accused that the accused were auctioning the post of Rs.2 lakhs and also submitted the video proof.
- IT officials conduct searches on Dwarampudi's relatives
KAKINADA: Officials of the Income Tax Department on Thursday conducted raids in five teams on the house of close relatives of former MLA Dwarampudi's Chandrasekhar Reddy, a close associate of YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy. The IT teams conducted raids under the supervision of IT Joint Commissioner B Satyanarayana Raju on Sravani ENT Hospital, Seven Star Orthopaedic Hospital and a filling station of Satti Veerreddi, a close relative of the former MLA. They also conducted raids on Hotel Royal Park belonging to Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy. Satyanarayana Raju said that the raids were as part of their routine duty.
- Telangana Congress leaders oppose poll ties
HYDERABAD: Congress leaders from Telangana told AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh who was here to hold the election committee of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). Majority of the leaders opposed an electoral alliance with TRS. They said that it was trying to take the sole credit of formation of Telangana State. He said that he will air their views before the high command. Digvijay Singh said that the issue will be decided by the Congress high command.
- Guntur Municipal Commissioner transferred
GUNTUR: Guntur Municipal Commissioner K Venkateswarulu was appointed as member secretary, AP Property Taxation Board. District Collector S Suresh Kumar requested the government to shift Venkateswarulu raising suspicion about latter's credentials last fortnight. The Municipal Commissioner is native of Kadapa district and his successor Nagaveni hails from Godavari district. The Municipal Commissioner is the returning officer for Guntur-west assembly constituency and official involved in election duty should be transferred. The State Government secured permission from the Election Commission to shift Venkateswarulu.

SRIKAKULAM: Srikakulam district Yetcherla MLA Meesala Nelakantam Naidu and Visakhapatnam MLC DV Suraynarayana Raju on Thursday joined YSRCP in the presence of its chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
- MRPS president Manda Krishna bereaved
SECUNDERABAD: Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder president Manda Krishna Madiga's mother Komaramma (95) passed away on Thursday morning. She was admitted to Yashoda hospital for respiratory and abdomen problems and died while on treatment.
- 18,000 applications for ECET
KAKINADA: ECET Chairman and JNTUK vice chancellor Dr.Tulasiram said on Thursday that they received 18,000 applications for Ecet test. He said with the latest decision of APSCHE, the candidates got through the test will be allowed to join in Engineering second year course directly. He said that the test will be conducted on May 10 and further information can be had on www.apecet.org.
- EAMCET applications cross one lakh
As on Thursday evening, 1,21,660 candidates have applied for the test. Of the applicants, boys numbered 60,995 and girl applicants 60,707 said EAMCET convenor NV Ramana Rao. Among the applicants 96,597 choose the engineering paper while 34,484 the medicine paper.

- Election code applies to Governor, says Deputy Election Commissioner
The Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Justi said that the Election code applies to Governor too. He said that conduct of review meetings with District Collectors and Superintendent of Police will come under the purview. The Governor has to take permission of the Election Commission for review meetings. The Deputy Election Commissioner said that the new political parties can get names registered with the Election Commission.

All India Congress Committee on Thursday released the second list of candidates. The list containing 71 names that include Rajbabbar, Nagma, Reeta. 35 per cent of the seats have been reserved to women in the list.

AICC general secretary and in-charge of AP Affairs said on Thursday that the list of candidates will be announced in between March 22 to 28.
