Government plans to allot 15per cent MBBS seats to NRIs

Andhra Pradesh State Government is planning to allot 15 per cent of MBBS seats to NRI from the next academic year according to Minister of Medical and Health Kamineni Srinivasa Rao.

Speaking to press at the Assembly Lobby on Monday, he said that there was an increase of 850 MBBS seats with the efforts of the State Government. He said that the government plans to allot 15 per cent out of it to NRIs to make the medical colleges more financially powerful and stable.

Kamineni Srinivas said that out of Rs.10,000 fee, Rs.9,700 is going to respective universities. On the conduct of counselling process for medical stream, he said a decision would be taken a week days’ time. He said that the medical colleges are demanding allotment of ‘B’ category seats to them and they said that there was no increase in the fees in the last five years resulting them to face problems. ‘The State Government is not adhering this demand’, he said.
