Lok Satta Party welcomes President's rule

Lok Satta Party welcomed the imposition of President's rule in the State saying that it would restore amity and good will between the people of two regions.

Party national president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan said that there is no alternative in the present political situation. He said that steps should be taken to ensure to restore governance, peace and amity between people of Telangana and Seemandhra. Jayaprakash Narayan said that that the government had ceased to exist in the state since the last two years with the Ministers fighting for themselves forgetting their basic responsibility.

It may be recalled that the Union Cabinet that met at the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence has taken up the item 'proclamation under Article 356(1). The Union Cabinet move was necessitated following the Chief Minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy who tendered resignation for the post in protest over the division of the State.

The move comes in the wake of the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. With the imposition of President rule, Governor ESL Narasimhan will hold the charge during the period of President rule. It may be noted that the current 294 member Assembly comes to an end by June 2, 2014 and the Election Commission will shortly issue notification for Assembly polls.
