Lok Sabha passes AP State Reorganization Bill (Amendment)

The Lok Sabha on Friday approved the AP State Reorganization Bill (Amendment) 2014 making transfer of seven mandals to Andhra Pradesh.
Congress MP Gutta Sukender Reddy speaking on the bill said that the Congress is not against the Polavaram project but the amendment Bill causes immense harm to the Girijans. He said that it is not correct to approve the bill without taking the opinions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States.TRS MP Vinod speaking on the bill said that it is anti-constitutional. He said that before effecting changes on the boundaries, he suggested to take the opinion of the Assembly.
Andhra Pradesh Government welcomes:
The passage of Bill was welcomed by Andhra Pradesh which in otherwise by Telangana. State Minister for Finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that it paved way for construction of Polavaram project and will be completed within three years. He further said that the passage of the Bill was only due to the efforts of Nara Chandrababu Naidu. More or less, the same views were expressed by Major Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao on the Bill.
Telangana JAC gives call for Telangana bandh:
Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof.Kodandaram gave a call for bandh on Saturday. He said that merging the mandals of one State with another in violation of the wishes of the people is undemocratic. Secunderabad is exempted from bandh following Bonalu festival, he said.
