'Liquor syndicate cases will be re-opened', says Excise Minister


June 23, 2014 - Hyderabad

Minister for Excise Kollu Ravindra said on Sunday in Rajahmundry that the TDP government will not leave the cases booked against MLAs, Ministers and Excise Official in liquor scams.

Ravindra said that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had exposed a liquor syndicate during the Congress rule that included police officials and political leaders. He said that all cases are pending with the ACB and also some of them in High Court. We will pursue the cases but will not be vindictive towards any one', said the Excise Minister.

On liquor policies, Ravindra said that efforts were being made to reduce number of shops as well as the consumption in the State. The new liquor policy would be announced shortly and added that license fee would be enhanced from Rs.1 lakh to Rs.2 lakh and the government is planning to run the shops on lines with Tamil Naidu government.
