  • Vice Chancellor of ANU releases Vision document
    GUNTUR: The Vice Chancellor of Acharaya Nagarjuna University K Viyanna Rao on Friday released the draft of 'Perspective Plan for the Development of Andhra Pradesh (New State). It would be presented to the Chief Minister designate Nara Chandrababu Naidu after he assumes office on June 8. The document contains the compilation of 32 articles on various facets of development in education, health, industry, agriculture, science and technology and apart from revenue generation capability of the new State.
  • Praja Spandana writes open letter to Chandrababu Naidu
    VISAKHAPATNAM: Praja Spandana president CS Rao has demanded the Chief Minister designate Nara Chandrababu Naidu making Visakhapatnam as capital of Andhra Pradesh and the headquarters of proposed SC Railway Zone. In an open letter on Friday, he said connectivity, availability of land and water supply would make Vizag the best suited for the capital. He said that Visakhapatnam Airport had gone international with a couple of flights launched to Dubai and Singapore during the last two years.
  • Five gangsters arrested
    CHITOOR: AS special team of Hyderabad CCS police on Friday afternoon arrested five members of an inter-state gang all from Mumbai who are said to be involved in over 150 criminal cases in the several party of the country. The team raided a house in Vijayanagar Colony in Madanapalli on specific information and nabbed the gang. Police sources said that the arrested persons were involved in multitudes of serious crimes including gruesome murders, train thefts, communal riots and arson.

    GUNTUR: An RTC driver died of heart attack while on duty on Thursday. Before he took the vehicle to a safety saving the lives of passengers, he collapsed on the steering with massive heart attack. The incident took place at Reddygudem village in Rajupalem mandal. RTC Regional Manager of Guntur, PV Rama Rao said that the bus driver Sk.Dastagiri felt severe pain in the chest and collapsed in the driver seat.
  • Off-duty RTC driver dies after being pushed out of bus
    NELLORE: An RTC driver, IS Reddy died after allegedly being pushed out of the bus by a passenger at Narawada in Nellore district on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred when the driver after the duty boarded the Pamuru-bound bus to go to his native village in Prakasam district. A passenger, Brahmaiah, irked at not getting a stop at a place he wanted to disembark, picked up a fight with Reddy who was standing near the foot board. Heated argument between the two reportedly led to exchange of blows when the passenger pushed the driver out of the bus.
  • Stalker kills woman and daughter
    VIJAYAWADA: In a ghasty incident, a woman and her daughter were done to death by a man identified as Siva Nagaraju at Mallavalli in Bapulapadu mandal in the wee hours of Thursday. A Chandramma and Chinni were sleeping outside their house when Nagaraju attacked them with a sickle killing the both on the spot. Police sources said that the Nagaraju had been pestering Chinni for some time to marry him. The accused was taken into custody and the Nuzvid police are investigating.

  • Rs three crore for renovation and repairs of AP Chief Minister's office
    HYDERABAD: The State Government of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday sanctioned Rs.3 crores for the repairs and renovation of AP Chief Minister's office at Lake View Guest House on the Raj Bhavan Road. It may be recalled that this has been allotted to AP Chief Minister's office cum-resident. It is expected that Chandrababu Naidu is expected to function from here from June 9 after he took over the reins of the State on June 8.
  • KCR Loan waiver scheme is only taken between June 1 2013 to June 1, 2014
    The deliberations between the Bankers and the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao on Wednesday and is proposed that the loan waiver is for only loans taken in between June 1, 2013 to June1, 2014 and not to loans on agri-based activities such as poultry, livestock etc., and those availed by pledging gold. According to sources, if only loans of up to Rs.1 lakh were waived, it would amount to Rs.26,020 crore and if crop loans are taken into account, it would be Rs.20,378 crore. If only loans upto Rs.1 lakh are considered, it amounts to Rs.19,600 crore.
  • Governor's joint Secretary escapes with minor injuries
    Basant Kumar, the Governor’s joint secretary in the Raj Bhavan, was involved in a road mishap on the national highway at Narketpally, of Nalgonda ,district on Wednesday morning. He escaped with minor injuries. Mr Kumar was returning to Hyderabad from Vijayawada. The accident occurred when the tyre of the car in which he was travelling exploded. The driver lost control of the car and hit a road divider. At the time of the accident, Basant Kumar’s wife and other family members were also in the car. They are all safe. The driver sustained a head injury and is being treated.
