  • Jeevan Reddy declares open of temple constructed for Sonia Gandhi
    HYDERABD: Congress leaders constructed a temple for AICC president Sonia Gandhi in Mallial town to express their gratitude for creating separate Telangana State. They installed a white marbel statue and had the portraits of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on temple walls. Jagatial MLA elect T Jeevan Reddy formally declared open on Monday. Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar who was present on the occasion said that they constructed a temple while Andhra leaders had built a tomb for her.
  • Yashwantpur-Howrah Super-fast express train accident averted
    CHITOOR: The engine and two passenger bogies of the Yashwantpur-Howrah Super-fast Express bound towards Howrah from Bangalore derailed in the outer area of Kuppam railway station on Tuesday night. No one injured in the incident. According to railway officials, the train that left the station instead of entering the main line entered the loop-line covered in sand and on noticing this, the driver suddenly applied brakes and could stop the engine a few meters away from a depression and a rail over-bridge averting a majority tragedy.
  • Telangana-Andhra boarder check-posts set up
    KURNOOL: Transport check-posts have been set up at Panchalingala on the Telangana-Andhra border on NGH-44 and Sundipenta near Srisailam. Deputy Transport Commissioner Sivaramprasad formally inaugurated the check-post at Panchalingala while the check-post at Sundipenta started functioning the same day.
  • Fish medicine will be on June 8
    The Bathini family has been assured the Exhibition Grounds for administering the traditional fish medicine. This assurance was given by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, when Bathini Harinath Goud met him on Tuesday. Goud thanked the Chief Minister for his intervention. The medicine would be disbursed on June 8. Those intending to take the medicine should not eat anything three hours before and one-and-a-half hours after consuming the medicine, he said.
  • Prabhakara Rao appointed as Telangana Genco MD
    HYDERABAD: P Prabhakar Rao was appointed as Telangana Genco MD and will be assuming office on Thursday at noon. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao will be holding a review meeting on the same day evening.
  • Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma meets IPS officers
    HYDERABAD: Telangana Director General of Police Anurag Sharma met the IPS officers of the State. He is reportedly told the officers not to compromise on law and order issues.
  • YSRCP chief participates in party review meetings
    RAJAHMUNDRY: YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohana Reddy on Wednesday participated in the party review meetings in an effort to find out the cause of the party defeat. He will be participating in the review meetings that will be held for three days. After reaching Rajahmundry, he consoled the bereaved families of the boat accident. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs.1 lakh to the deceased families.

    HYDERBAD: The Minister for Agriculture for Telangana State, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy will assume charge on Wednesday evening at 5.30pm.
  • Government committed for loan waiver', says Eetela Rajender
    HYDERABAD: The Minister for finance for Telangana State, Eetela Rajender speaking to media after the meeting with the bankers said that the government is committed for loan waiver. He said that the government wanted the Bankers to furnish the details which will be ready by Monday. He said that loans taken in the financial year 2013-14 will be wiped off. He said that the government has asked the banks to sanction loans irrespective of repayments. With the loan waiver implementation, there will be Rs.12,000 crore burden on the Telangana State Government.
  • Congress will review election performance on June 16
    The Congress party will meet on June 16 and post-mortem the reasons for the party debacle in the recently concluded elections. Party MLC Rudraraju said that the main agenda of the meeting is to reconstruction of the party. He said that the party will hold sadassus at Vijayawada on June 13 and 14.
  • Rs.60,000 crore requires for Andhra Pradesh reconstruction
    HYDERABAD: Former Minister Dr S Sailajanath said that nearly Rs.60,000 crore is required for the reconstruction of the residuary Andhra Pradesh. He said that there is every need to keep special status for Hyderabad.
