Yellapragada Sudarshan Rao appointed as the Chairman of Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR)
Yellapragada Sudarshan Rao from Telangana State has been appointed as the Chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR). Sudarshan Rao, a retired professor of Department of History, Kakatiya University has 40 years of teaching experience and has over 40 research papers to his credit published in various national and international journals. He said that his first priority is to secure more funds for the council to carry out original research, digitize the Indian history and bring back precious documents, manuscripts and inscriptions form museums in America, UK and other countries.

Case booked against Bishop
VIJAYAWADA: The Suryapeta police on Wednesday registered a case u/s 354 and 506against CSI Church Bishop Devashirvadam on charge of misbehavior. Following a complaint by K Divena Sastry, wife of Father John Sastry of the same church, the Bishop allegedly made objectionable remarks against her. It is to be noted that Father Johan Sastry was suspended and later transferred to Nuzvid for alleged misuse of position. The Suryapeta police registered a case under Sections 354 and 506 against the Bishop.
TRS encouraging defections', says K Jana Reddy
HYDERABAD: In the back drop of defection of five of the Congress MLCs to TRS, the Congress leadership on Thursday blamed the TRS for encouraging floor crossings. Close to a dozen Congress party leaders led by CLP leder K Jana Reddy addressed separate press conferences to lash out at the TRS for luring party MLCs. He said that the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao had demoralized the party rank and file.

HYDERABAD: Telangana Government on Thursday declared the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on June 28 as the State Function and is planning to celebrate in a large scale. Court stays proceedings against YSRCP chief Jagan Reddy
HYDERABAD: Justice Nooty Rama Mohan Rao of Hyderabad High Court on Thursday stayed all further proceedings registered against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a criminal case registered in Kodad, Nalgonda District. The case was registered against him for allegedly he violated the model code of conduct and resorted to holding up traffic etc., The judge directed the authorities to file a comprehensive report and stayed all the further proceedings.
Canteen boy killed in the lift of Apollo hospitals
KAKINADA: A canteen boy Ramesh working in the canteen of Apollo Hospitals in Kakinada died when he was stuck up in between the lift door. He was studying 9th standard in a school in Kakinada. He was working in the canteen following holidays to the school. The relatives of the deceased staged a dharna demanding justice by the hospital authorities.
Chandrababu Naidu meets Union Minister for Power Piyush Goyal
NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu speaking to media after meeting with the Union Minister of Power, Piyush Goyal said that he had requested the Minister to do justice to the State which was put to heavy loss due to bifurcation. He said that 500 mw Power would be supplied to the State within two months. He said that plans are on for supply of power round the clock. Mr. Goyal said that NTPC will lend its services to the State for supplementary power to the State.
Weekend holidays for traffic police personnel
HYDERABAD: City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said that plans are there to extend week end holidays to the traffic police personnel and will be materialized within two months. He said that orders from the Government have been reached to this effect. He said that incentives would be given to those police personnel who does commendable job at the stations, he added.
'APSRTC is in neck deep losses', says Transport Minister
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation is in neck deep losses said Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao. Speaking to press on Thursday, the minister said that the losses were to the tune of Rs.2,600 crores and the per day loss to the organization comes to Rs.2.75 crore. He said that the officials are making proposals to increase 15 per cent hike in the charges. However, he said that the government is not ready to hike the fares.

'118 schools so far seized', says District Collector Mukesh Kumar Meena
HYDERABAD: District Collector Mukesh Kumar Meena said on Thursday that so far 118 schools have been seized for various violations and the administration has sent notices to 770 schools for failure to give reports on the fee aspect. He said that government would de-recognise in the event of their failure to compile a report within one week. The Collector said that the fee should be Rs.9,000 for primary and upper primary and Rs.12,000 for High Schools. Action would be taken on those who are collecting above the cap.
Intermediate Supplementary results will be announced on Friday
HYDERABAD: The results of the second year Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary examination will be announced on June 27 at 5pm. The results will be released by the AP Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Telangana Minister for Education G Jagadeeshwar Reddy. Students can access their results by using their register number as User ID and date of birth /Centre No as password from the websites.
Another body of a student of VNR College retrieved
The search operators on Thursday retrieved another body of a student identified as Jagadish Mudiraj. With this the total number of dead bodies retrieved had gone to 19 and efforts to trace the left of the five missing students are on. It may be recalled that 24 students of VNR Vignan Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology were washed away on June 8 due to the sudden release of water from flood gates of Larji dam without any notice.
