    Nirmala Seetharaman to file nomination for Rajya Sabha

    HYDERABAD: Union Minister Nirmala Seetharaman will file her nomination for Rajya Sabha member on June 21 at 2pm. The vacancy was casued following the demise of Nedurumalli Janaradhana Reddy who passed away. The seat goes to BJP following an understanding with the TDP in the general elections on seat sharing.

    'Development decentralization needs 25 districts in Andhra Pradesh', says BJP leader Somu Veerraju

    Bharatiya Janata Party National Executive Committee member Somu Veerraju said that there is every need to divide the 13 districts into 25 districts for development decentralization.

    Speaking to press in Rajahmundry on Thursday, he said that development should be distributed wherever the State Capital may come up. He said that Telangana was benefitted in respect of power, water and physical boundaries through the foresight of their leaders. He wanted the Chief Minister Chandrasekhara Rao to refrain from provocative speeches against their counterparts. He suggested creation of electronic city in between Kakinada and Rajahmundry and emphasized the need for development of agri-based industries.

    EdCET- 2014 results announced

    VISAKHAPATNAM: It may be recalled that 1,49,026 candidates out of 1,66,167 attended the EdCET-2014 conducted across the State for 50,050 seats to be filled in 618 B.Ed. colleges across the State on June 2, 2014. The results that are announced on Thursday registered a pass percentage of 98.78. In Andhra University region, a pass percentage of 99.04 while 98.72 in Osmania University and 98.74 in Sri Venkateswara University region.

    Swiss Bank announces the deposits of Indians

    The Swiss Bank authorities announced that the deposits of Indians in the bank has increased by Rs.14,000 crore and increase of 40 per cent.

    Kamalanathan Committee to meet again on June 22

    HYDERABAD: Kamalanathan Committee has decided to meet once again on June 22. The committee met on Thursday at the Secretariat to discuss the sharing of employees. The meeting was attended by Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao along with other officials.

    'Injustice will not be done to employees', says Chandrababu Naidu

    HYDERABAD: Speaking to employees in the secretariat after assuming charge as Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu told them that injustice will not be done to employees under TDP rule. The secretariat employees have accorded him a warm welcome. He reminded them that the self-respect of the people had gone high only with the NTR rule. Telangana State could get surplus budget only because of TDP rule, he said.

    Nara Lokesh assumes as Co-ordinator of TDP workers welfare Trust

    HYDERABAD: Nara Lokesh son of Chandrababu Naidu was made as the co-ordinator of TDP workers welfare trust on Thursday has assumed charge at NTR Bhavan. Rs.2.85 lakh donation were received by him by various donors that includes Nova Institutions chief M Krishna Rao Rs.1 lakh and U Chakrapani from Parchur Rs.1 lakh, T Reshmi $1,000 and K Sivannarayan with Rs.25,000.

    Kodela Siva Prasad likely to be made as Speaker of Assembly

    HYDERABAD: The name of Dr. Kodela Siva Prasad is likely to be made as the Speaker of Andhra Pradesh State Assembly is finalized. The five times MLA who was elected from Narasaraopet from Guntur district was elected as MLA from Sattepalli.
    Minister for Assembly Affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu met the YSRCP president and leader of the Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and sought his cooperation in the unanimous election of Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao for which the former has agreed. And with this, the election of Dr. Kodela as the Speaker is imminent.
    With only one nomination filed, the election of Kodela Siva Prasada Rao as the Speaker is only a nominal. The election will be held at 9.22am on Friday and the name of Kodela will be declared.

    Kollu Ravindra assumes charge as Minister for Excise and Backward classes

    HYDERBAD: Kollu Ravindra on Thursday assumed charge as the Minister for Excise and Backward classes. Speaking on the occasion, he said that a new Excise Policy will be announced shortly. The Minister said that village and mandal level committee will be formed to arrest belt shops. He said that Rs.100 crore worth of weaver loans have to be waived. He said a decision will be announced shortly.

    VISAKHAPTNAM: The results of the EdCET 2014 that was conducted on May 30 will be released on Thursday by the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and G Jagadesh Reddy at 6.30pm at a function in Andhra University. Students can check their results on www.apedce.ltorg., www.apsche.org., www.andhrauniveristy.edu.in.

    YSRCP chief held break-fast meeting with party MLAs

    HYDERABAD: YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday held a break-fast meeting with the party MLAs at his Lotus Pond. He advised the MLAs the strategy to be played in the Assembly.
