- YSRCP seeks clarification on Special Status
HYERABAD: The YSRCP has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a statement on the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh. In a letter sent to the Prime Minister on Saturday, YSRCP Parliamentary leader M Rajamohan Reddy said people were disturbed over the reports that the as per the NDC norms, Andhra Pradesh was ineligible to be conferred special status.
- DGP inspects AP Assembly premises
HYDERABAD: Senior police officers led by Andhra Pradesh DGP JV Ramudu on Saturday inspected the old Assembly along with Additional Director General, Intelligence AR Anuradha, additional DGs NV Surendra Babu and RP Thakur in view of the maiden session of the AP Assembly from June 19. Senior police officers from Telangana State - City Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, Mahesh Bhagwat and B Malla Reddy accompanied him.
- Block all websites that were involved in a malicious campaign', petitions Sharmila Reddy
HYDERABAD: YSRCP star campaigner YS Sharmila Reddy in a petition addressed to the DCP of Hyderabad Central Crime Station appealed to block all websites that were involved in a malicious campaign against her. She asked the police to act against all search engines, including Safari of Apple and Google, accusing them of prominently displaying information pertaining to the malicious campaign whever search words related to her name were being keyed in.
- APUWJ seeks health insurance scheme
HYDERABAD: A delegation of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists called in the Information Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy on Saturday and urged him to introduce the health insurance scheme for journalists at the earliest. They informed the minister that the earlier government had agreed to extend the facility but orders could not be issued as the election code of conduct came into force. They urged the Minister to increase the journalists' welfare fund to Rs.20 crore.

HYDERABAD: Jubilee Hills police on Friday in their routine checks booked a case of drunk and drive against Tollywood actor Sandeep. They slapped a case and seized the car.
- New Excise policy from July', says Excise Minister Ravindra
VIJAYAWADA: The Minister for Excise, BC welfare Minister Kollu Ravindra said that the new Excise policy will come into force from July. He said that the people's health is more important then revenue. He said that the excise policies being in force in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Haryana and other states would be examined before implementing in the State', said Ravindra. He said that Belt shops will not be permitted at any cost and threatened to cancel licenses if they sell liquor beyond the MRP.
