CBI nabs IT Deputy Commissioner
TIRUPATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday arrested Phazulla, Deputy Director of Income Tax while taking a bribe of Rs.3 lakhs form a chartered Accountant belonging to YSR district for reducing Income Tax. The Deputy Director who demanded Rs.5 five lakhs finally came to an understanding to clear off the files for Rs.3 lakhs. A CBI team with 14 members laid a trap and took him into custody and seized the documents and money along with two IT officials.

GAIL stops supplying of gas to power plants
HYDERABAD: Following the gas leakage tragedy at Nagaram, Gas Authority of India (GAIL) authorities have stopped supplying of gas to power plants in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States for thorough check ups. With this action, the States which are under power threat are facing more power shortage due to shortage of 430MW power.

LV Prasad Eye Hospital plans for expansion
VISKAHAPTNAM: The famous LV Prasad Eye Hospital is planning for expansion in Andhra Pradesh. It plans to establish Eye Health University with an initial investment of Rs.50 crores and Rs.100 cores in a phased manner. It is writing a letter to the State Government for allotment of 10 acres of land for the Eye University. If materialized, this will be the first Eye University in the world. LV Prasad Eye hospitals have already situated in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada along with Hyderabad according to LV Prasad Eye Hospital Chairman Gullapalli Nageswara Rao.

TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Executive Officer MG Gopal said that TTD will organize Sri Venkateswara Vedagama Vidwat Sadassu from October 10 to 14.

APSRTC employees seek equal salaries with State employees
VIJAYAWADA: APSRTC Employees Union State general secretary Katakamseeti Padmakar threatened that the buses would operate if they were given the equal salaries with that of State Government Employees. Addressing a public meeting here, he said that the RTC employees are too eligible for equal salaries with State employees. Union State president Chevuri Chandrasekhara Reddy, CPI State general secretary Ramakrishna, AITUC State president PG Chandrasekhar participated in the meeting.

Godown wall collapse
CHENNAI: All the nine persons from Srikakulam district who were killed in the wall collapse incident in Chennai were sent to their native places after post-mortem. It may be recalled here that 11 persons were died in wall collapse in Chennai.

842 seats filled in Medical PG
VIJAYAWADA: The second phase of Medical PG counseling being conducted at Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences, 842 seats were filled in. 589 seats in Clinical PG and 110 seats in non-clinical PG, 137 seats in Clinical diploma and 6 seats in non-clinical diploma. The counseling continues to be held on July 8,9, and 10.

Rs.10 crore worth of drugs seized
HYDERABAD: The Kerala and Cyberabad police in a joint operation on Monday seized Rs.10 crore worth of drugs at an old godown at Gandicheruvu in Ranga Reddy districts. They took 15 accused into custody.

Two airports to come at Hyderabad
HYDERBAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao said that two airports will be established at Hyderabad. He said that he held review meetings with all the department heads on the development of the State. He emphasized the need of the participation right from Sarpanch level to MPs in the development of the State.
Speaking to media on Monday, Chandrasekhara Rao said that ten dumping yards will be created. He said that the number of officers in cadre of Joint Collectors will be increased. He said efforts would be made to increase the number of districts of the State. Minor irrigations will be development with Rs.1,000 crore.

AP State Finance Minister to held review meetings
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu will hold review meetings with the department head from July 14 in an exercise to prepare the State budget.

Customs officials seize 1 kg gold
HYDERABAD: Customs officials on Monday seized one kilo of gold from a woman arrived from Dubai. She gave complaint to the police stating that a bag of her was missing and the officials located the same. They found the gold in it and she is being questioned by the officials.

Blast at reactor at Pharma city injures five persons
VISAKHAPATNAM: A blast that occurred at Vegesna Factory at the Pharma City in Visakhapatnam on Monday morning injured at least five persons according to sources. This is the second incident that occurred in the Parma City in a week’s day time. Sources said that there is no life threat to anyone.
