  • Creation of Telangana state will not fuel Naxalism
    Surrendered Maoist leader Usendi on Monday while dismissing the reports that creation of Telangana State would fuel naxalism said that those who are opposed to formation of separate State are intentionally creating such a negative atmosphere. It may be recalled here that he along with wife and ex-divisional committee member of DKSZC press unit Satoshi Markam had turned himself before the police on January 7.
  • 'Jai Samaikyandhra' party with Election Commission
    A new political party 'Jai Samikhayndhra' was registered with the Election Commission. Former MP Ch. Sri Hari Rao got the name registered along with 150 members. He is the former MP from Rajahmundry elected on the TDP ticket in 1984. He is away from the political picture sufficiently long time. Details are awaited said sources.
  • Daylong dharna at Indira Para for the cause of united Andhra Pradesh
    APNGO's Association will stage a day long dharna on January 22 at Indira Park as a part of their agitation to keep the State united. P Ashok Babu said that it planned a massive show of strength in the form of 'Chalo Assembly' to lay siege to the State Legislature but has been changed to 'Chalo Hyderabad' in view law and order issue. He said that the dharna would be held from 11am to 4pm and people from Seemandhra region as also supporters of united Andhra should attend in large numbers, he said.>/li>
  • 'Chalo Assembly' programme -Samaikyandhra activists taken to custody
    Nearly 70 Samaikyandhra activists were taken to custody who was protesting against the Centre to move to divide the State when they tried to take a 'Chalo Assembly' rally near Indira Park on Monday. The arrested include president of Mala Mahanadu Karem Shivaji, Chalasani Srinivas of the Intellectuals' JAC and Vidyarthi Sankar Naik president of Girijan Vidyarthi Samnakhya. MPs Y Satyanarayana Choudhary and K Narayna, several Ministers and a dozen MLAs from different parties including Congress and TDP participated in the rally.
  • Governor unveils Ambedkar statue on Assembly premises
    Governor ESL Narasimhan unveiled a bronze statue of Dr BR Ambedkar installed on the premises of Assembly on Monday in the presence of the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Council Chairman, A Chakrapani, Speaker Nadendla Bhaskar, Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Leader of Opposition Nara Chandrababu Naidu along with Ministers and MLAs. The 14 feet statue was installed adjacent to the life size bronze of Mahatma Gandhi.
  • No permission for APNGOs 'Chalo Hyderabad' programme, says police
    Police said on Monday that no permission has been accorded to the APNGOs 'Chalo Hyderabad ' programme scheduled to be held on January 22 in protest against bifurcation of the State. They said that already prohibitory orders are in force in Hyderabad and no permission was granted for meetings and rallies. Meanwhile, APNGOs president Ashok Babu called the people to participate in the programme by deputing one member from each family for the programme.
  • Aruna Bahuguna appointed as Director of National Police Academy
    Aruna Bahuguna was appointed as Director of National Police Academy, Hyderabad. An officer of 1979 batch belongs to Andhra Pradesh cadre. She is the first woman police officer appointed to the Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA). She is presently working as Additional special Director General of CRPF at its headquarters in New Delhi. The officer, who has served in various positions with Andhra Pradesh police, also holds the distinction of being the first woman SDG in CRPF, country's largest paramilitary force.
  • Maharashtra government extend 30days payrole to Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt
    Maharashtra government has on Monday extended the payrole to Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt by another 30 days. The actor who is on payrole is going to be completed by Tuesday. The decision of extension was taken by the Pune Divisional Commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh following an appeal by him stating that his wife Manyata is not well and suffering from cancer. It may be recalled that the actor is undergoing five year term imprisonment in Mumbai blasts case in 1993.
  • Government conducts examination for VRO and VRA on February 2
    The State Government announced that it will be conducting examination for Village Revenue Officers ( VRO) and Village Revenue Assistants ( VRA) posts on Febraury 2 and primary key will be released on February 4. The examination will be held from 10am to 12 noon for VRO while from 3pm to 5pm for VRA examination. As many as 13,13,302 applicants have applied for VRO posts while 62,786 for VRA posts according to official sources.
  • 9 Municipal Employees unions serve strike notice
    Municipal employees of nine major unions across the State have served a strike notice stating that in the event of non-implementation of all the promises given earlier would go on strike from February 3. Municipal employees belonging to nine unions have served the notice to the Director of Municipal Administration on Monday.
  • CBI nabs Deputy Director of Central Drug Organization
    Central Drug Organization Deputy Director Chandrasekhar was caught by CBI on the charges of accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from a person on Monday. The officials conducted searches and unearthed Rs.25 lakh at his residence at Kukatpally according to sources.
  • Pedapadu Sub Inspector placed under suspension
    Pedapadu (East Godavari) Sub Inspector D Ganga Bhavani was placed under suspension on Monday by higher officials on corruption charges that were proved. According to Eluru Rural Inspector Subhakar, the suspended Sub Inspector in the year 2011 when working as trainee Sub Inspector conducted raids on cockfight and the amount seized was not shown that was proved resulting her to be placed under suspension.

    Agripalli (Krishna District) Sub Inspector Chandrasekhar was nabbed by the officials of ACB while accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 to do an official favour according to sources.
  • 'I will speak on the development when time comes', says TDP president Chandrababu Naidu
    Speaking in Assembly, TDP president Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that during the rule of Telugu Desam, all round development of Hyderabad was taken place. He said that the development could not be done by Nizam rulers was done by TDP only he said and he is prepared for a debate on it, he said. Nizam rulers developed only Secunderabad but TDP developed both Hyderabad and Secunderabad and nobody can deny the fact, he said.     Anakapalli Congress MP Sabbam Hari is spilling poison on YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, said YSRCP MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy. He said that earlier so many surveys revealed that YSR will be defeated, but the facts were known to the people, he said. He said that Jagan Mohan Reddy did his efforts to keep the State united and he met the President of India for three times and met the national leaders Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee and Navin Patnaik, Jayalalitha, Karunanidhi, Sarad Pawar, Prakash Singh Badal and so many leaders as part of his efforts. He said that TDP has not withdrawn the letter it gave to divide the State, he said.
  • Chief Minister's speech on division likely to take a minimum of 8 hours
    Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday urged the President to extend the dead line set up by him by one month in view of the prevailing circumstances in the Assembly to discuss thoroughly. It is learnt that he had prepared 450 pages speech and it would take a minimum of 8 to 10 hours. Meanwhile leaders from Telangana have sought an appointment with the President with a request not to extend the time sought by him.
  • Theft accused found dead under mysterious circumstances
    An accused in the robbery of gold and cash from the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) in Dharmapuri of Karimnagar was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Korutla Police station on Sunday night. According to Superintendent of Police V Shiva Kumar said that the accused Chandu (23) was working as driver of Dharmapuri PACS chairman and TRS leader Eetela Rajendar was picked up on theft charge by Dharmapuri police and after he confessed that the crime was committed by him shifted to Kortula police station on Sunday night. He reportedly jumped from the second floor and died. Investigation is going on
  • Health problems and poor response from party prompted to surrender', says Usendi
    Speaking to media on Monday, surrendered Maoist leader Usendi said that health problems coupled with non-cooperation from the party drove him to surrender before the police. He said that he worked only on the directions of the party. He said that by leaving to the party, he is not a rival to the party and did not want to harm to the party, he said. Usendi said that he had full knowledge about the people problems as he worked for nearly three decades in the party. He never expected any physical attack on him by the party members, he noted. He said that it is not good on their part to expose his personal life.

  • Jeevita Rajasekhar couple joins BJP
    Tollywood actors Jeevita Rajasekhar couple joined Bharatiya Janata Party BJP) in the presence of it's national president Rajnath Singh. The actor couple who maintained silence for sufficiently long time over joining, finally joined BJP after the announcement of division of State by Congress. Initially, they planned to join TDP but that party leaders objected their entry that led them to maintain silence. It may be recalled that former Union Minister Krishnam Raju too re-joined the BJP.

  • TDP MLA Payyavula Keshav speaks in Assembly
    Participating in the debate on the AP State Reorganization Bill 2013 on Monday in the Assembly, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs Payyavula Keshav said that he never dreamt that the day would come that he would speak on the division of the State. He said that there was a lapse in arresting the untrue facts floated on Telangana. He questioned whether the backwardness in Telangana region is the yardstick for formation of the State. He said that they have taken decision only on political gains. Keshav said that the centre failed to acknowledge 100 days of Seemandhra agitation. He said that Telugu Talli statue was first unveiled in Mahabubnagar and reminded that the word Telugu Talli was first uttered by Suravarapu Pratap Reddy and Andhra Mahasabha played a key role in Telangana liberation agitation. He said that the gentlemen's agreement is an agreement with Congress party, he said. He said that the division should not be done for the sake of the sons of Sonia Gandhi, KCR or Vijayamma. There would no water problem if the State is continued as Samikhayndhra, said Payyavula Keshav.
  • Five passengers were killed while 29 injured in bus accident
    Five passengers were killed and another 29 passengers were injured in a major bus accident that occurred at Honkote 20 kms away from Bangalore in Karnataka. A bus belonging to Raja Rajeswari travels that was going from Tirupati to Bangalore overturned. All the injured were rushed to hospital in Bangalore. Sources said that 49 passengers were travelling in the bus at the time of accident.
